From September 15–19, 2025, TWU delegates, officers, and activists gathered in Las Vegas for our union’s 27th Constitutional Convention. Local 568 was proud to stand with our brothers and sisters from across the country in what turned out to be one of the most energized and forward-looking conventions in TWU history.
This gathering, which takes place every four years, is one of the most important events in our union’s life. It is where the officers of the TWU International are elected and where the direction of our union is debated and set for the years ahead.
This year’s theme was “The Fight Back,” and it couldn’t be more fitting. Every speech, every workshop, every hallway conversation reminded us that we are in a moment where unions must not only defend what we’ve won, but push forward for better wages, stronger protections, and a future where working people thrive.
Key Highlights
Powerful Speakers: The convention kicked off with a roundtable on the threat of AI and advancing technology on American jobs, featuring leaders from SAG-AFTRA alongside TWU International President John Samuelsen and other labor champions.
Solidarity Across Movements: We heard from Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey and AFL-CIO President Elizabeth Shuler, both reminding us that the fight for workers’ rights is bigger than one workplace—it’s a nationwide struggle.
International Leadership: International President John Samuelsen delivered a strong message about fighting back against corporate greed and standing up for our members.
Local 568 at the Convention
Our Local 568 Executive Board attended the convention together. For some of us, it was the first time experiencing a TWU Constitutional Convention. Being part of the process, witnessing the debates, and voting on the future of our union gave us a new perspective on the bigger picture of the labor movement.
We came away from Las Vegas with something more than just knowledge—we brought back renewed energy, motivation, and a determination to fight back against the company and to stand stronger for our members’ rights.
Convention Energy
If you couldn’t be there in person, the energy in the room was electric. Delegates and leaders from every TWU local shared stories of battles won, challenges ahead, and a collective vision of solidarity. We weren’t just talking shop—we were strategizing about the future of work, the power of organizing, and the pride of being TWU.
Final Word
Brothers and sisters, the convention reminded us of something important: we are not alone in this fight. From coast to coast, TWU members are united, organized, and ready to stand up for what we deserve.
Let’s carry that energy back to Miami. Together, we will fight back, we will win, and we will continue building a stronger future for every TWU member.
In solidarity,
- The Board
