| Delivery of Escort Bags/Strollers/Wheelchairs per AA Line Cargo Manual |
Dear Member,
Periodically, questions arise as to the obligation of members having to deliver escort bags/strollers/wheelchairs to the tops of jetbridges. While our membership professes a dedication of service to our passengers, we must all always be conscious of our own safety. When questioned on this subject, we recommend that you refer to American Airlines own published Line Cargo Manual (LCM) under Section 4.2-d which reads, "Whenever possible and can be safely accomplished, the article should be hand carried to the top of the jetbridge and placed inside the entry door. When the article is exceptional in size or weight, the article should be transferred at the locally designated point" . We insist that the company respect the judgment of our members when it comes to safety concerns, yet at the same time we call on our membership to perform their duties as outlined in published company policy and provide escort service to our passengers "whenever possible and can be safely accomplished."
