Security Directive #08-01 Date: February 29, 2008 Subject: IMPLEMENTATION OF ACCESS CONTROL PERSONAL PIN NUMBERS
As per Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) Security Notice #08-01, effective June 1, 2008, specific airport employees are required to have a pin number issued by the MDAD ID Section for authorization to access restricted areas of Miami International Airport. The pin issuance process will occur from March 3, 2008 through May 30, 2008.
This new policy will affect anyone with blue, green, green primary with brown secondary, brown primary with green secondary or yellow MDAD ID badges. Each employee will be required to obtain a pin number for only their personal use when entering restricted areas through an access control door with a Matrix card reader. Accessing any restricted area of the airport should only be done in the performance of an assigned job duty. Employees will be advised to use (swipe and pin number) and emergency procedures at the time that the number is issued.
The MDAD ID Section will be contacting companies and MDAD Divisions to arrange distribution of pin numbers beginning on March 3, 2008.
A pin number is secure information and is protected by all laws and policies regulating Security Sensitive Information (SSI). Failure to safegard this information at all times is a security violation and is subject to penalties including access privileges being suspended or revoked. In addition, TSA can also impose civil penalties for violation of SSI.
Thank you for your continued cooperation as we strive to raise the bar on security at MIA. For any questions, please contact me at (305) 876-7017 or Frances Pera at (305) 876-7532. Inquires can also be made to the ID Section at (305) 876-8045.
