Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
This past September, with the upcoming departure of our FLL Chairman, Ralph Hill, to MIA and the appointment of John Costa to the position, I Laterally transferred to Fort Lauderdale. Since my arrival, John and I have built a great personal and working relationship, along with the past steward body and the currently elected one we have, and will continue to move Fort Lauderdale forward along with all the support of our Local 568 officers. We have seen the station expand in head count, full time to part time ratios improved, flights increase over the holiday season, and ground equipment. And as most of you know the upgraded our PAP flight from a 737 to an Airbus A300 which is full most days, Unfortunately Fort Lauderdale will be losing a few flights coming soon, Two seasonal, ORD and STL and three regularly scheduled ones LGA, SDQ, and the morning LAX, Though the SDQ will be replaced by a nonstop to KIN. John will be working closely with the station GM, Marixa Franco, to keep current head count. As for me, I will be returning back to the place from whence I came, MIA, which I have missed dearly (not so much the drive).I have formed some great friendships in FLL and will miss them all. I will continue to work closely with John and the steward body on issues in FLL.I am looking forward to be working with the MIA union representation once again.

 Cargo Bid Update
January 31, 2008
Brothers and Sisters,\
I am pleased to report that in the month of January, the cargo department conducted a successful shift bid with the assistance of our steward body. I would like to extend our appreciation for their involvement. Additionally, there were a few changes on the shift bid this month. Some of the starting times such as, 0500, 1300, and 1400 were changed in an effort to provide our membership with adequate coverage in their respective work areas. This in effect allows for better coverage and helps operational needs at cargo.
On another note, I would like express some additional concerns regarding attendance. Many of our members have been meetings with local management while being counseled for attendance without union representation. While we believe it is your right to attend these meetings without representation, we strongly discourage the absence of union representation in any such discussions.
Contractually, it is every member right and entitlement to full union representation in any discussion that may lead to discipline. I strongly encourage members to contact a union representative prior to any such discussions.
In conclusion, if you have question please feel free to reach me in the cargo area
Fraternally,
Wayne Boyd
